WE STILL DON'T UNDERTAND PRESIDENT TRUMP!

With his announcement of a prime time address President Trump tricked us all into thinking we'd get details on his plans for Venezuela. We should have known better. When it comes to issues of war and peace, the President never shows his cards. He'd rather not signal what he is going to do, preferring to keep his adversaries in the dark and on the wrong footing. The reactions show how little the pundits still understand this President, shouting how crazy he is and what a train wreck of a speech this was on his economic and monetary accomplishments of the last ten months.

(LIVE STREAM) PRESIDENT TRUMP ACCOUNCES BLOCKADE OF VENEZUELAN OIL

President Donald Trump is delivering a prime-time address tonight at 9pmET from the White House, focusing on economics and border security. The speech outlines plans for the coming year, particularly as the 2026 midterm elections approach. He is also expected to announce a blockade on oil tankers entering and leaving Venezuela. The announcement is tied to designating the "cartel de los soles" -- the cartel of the suns, a foreign terrorist organization.


Dec. 18, 2025 RSBN: President Trump Delivers an Address to the Nation. 

There are a number of things to say about the blockade of Venezuela, but I am not going to repeat what an account on X by The Islander already said best. Here's the main take away from that post (link).

"(...) let’s strip away the theater, this is not about Venezuela. Venezuela is the stage, not the target. The target is precedent. If tankers can be seized, governments branded 'terrorist' by decree, and economies threatened with strangulation absent mandate or law, then the message is unmistakable. Sovereignty inside the Western system is provisional. Property exists only until it is needed. Law applies, until it doesn't." 


Well, I'm taking issues with 'precedent'. Actually, this is what raw power looked like before the 'post World War 2 liberal rules based order'. We already knew it was dead when the West started to apply the rules only when politically expedient to themselves.

For example, when Kosovo was brutally severed from its historical homeland after it had been bombed for weeks by NATO. On the other hand, the accession of Crimea to Russia caused the transatlantic alliance to mobilize for World War 3.

Or the EU looking for ways to confiscate Russia's frozen assets against every rule in the book and a punishment that even Nazi Germany did not have to face. But that is merely the final blow, just to make sure that the so called 'international law' is indeed dead as a dodo.

President Trump has already made known on earlier occasions that the New World Order has had a stake through the heart, if it had one. Welcome back to the real world, where only real power has power. Not pseudo 'neutral',  'international law' without actual enforcement, oversight or democratic accountability.

The Monroe Doctrine 2.0 is taking shape.
