US STATE DEPT. SANCTIONS 5 EURO CENSORS OVER CHRISTMAS

The Trump administration's Christmas present to the European leaders is not being well received. Just before Christmas the State Dept. announced it  is barring five "agents of the global censorship-industrial complex" from entering the US. Two of them are subject to deportation (press release). The sanctioned censors range from former EU commissioner for Internal Markets and Digital Services, Thierry Breton  to Imran Ahmed, key collaborator with the Biden Administration’s effort to weaponize the government against American citizens and his Center for Countering Digital Hate (CCDH).

Over Christmas the X platform was awash with posts, either in support of the measure or in outrage against it. It shows how deep Europe is now burrowed in on the framing of free speech as 'hate speech' or as misinformation that needs to be banned in order to keep 'democracy safe'.

But by some miracle they are suddenly crying out about being censored and what about their free speech?! It's a marvel to behold now that the tables have turned on them. The hypocrisy is staggering!

Of some philosophical importance is the remark by Kurt Schlichter that for the US, free speech is a legal right in reality, whereas for Europeans it's just a label to throw about when it's politically and morally expedient (link).

This ladder is necessarily going to be repetitive, but is far from exhaustive. It is just a window into what is going on. The injustice and corruption is harrowing! Travel bans are the least these people should be subjected to. Let's hope this is just the beginning.
