(CHRISTMAS 2025) A KALANTA A DAY: "FORTY DAYS, FORTY NIGHTS"
In the countdown to Christmas we are posting a traditional Greek Christmas Carol or a Greek Orthodox Christmas chant a day. Today's Carol is "Σαράντα μέρες, σαράντα νύχτες" (Saranta meres, saranta nichtes - Forty days, forty nights, a reference to the 40 days of Christmas lent), a traditional Carol from the region of Thrace by Chronis Aidonidis and Nektaria Karantzi accompanied by the Estoudiantina Neas Ionias (link). The Carol is part of the album "Να τα πούμε;" (Na Ta Poume? - Sing Along) from which we shall hear much more before Christmas Eve. The Greek lyrics are available in the description. For a translation we suggest Reverso.
