WHY DID THE US SEIZE A VENEZUELAN OIL TANKER?

🌿 Who has been expecting a Desert Storm style breaking news on the operation in Venezuela, may have a very long wait ahead. If some commentators are right we are looking at a strategy more akin to a slow process of asphyxiation, that may take anything from 1 to 3 months to conclude. The media are incapable of identifying this operation, because it does not fit into any of their blueprints. So they are going with what they know: war on drugs. Sanctions busting might be another frame, but it's much more than that. Lookner has more on the seizure of the oil tanker such as it is. After that, we enter 'conspiracy' territory with General Flynn and Patrick Byrne.

Dec. 10, 2025 Agenda Free TV: U.S. Seizes Oil Tanker off Venezuela Coast - LIVE Breaking News Coverage.

The operation that seized the oil tanker was executed by the FBI, Homeland Security Investigations, and the Coast Guard with support from the Department of War.

The region has seen the largest US military buildup in decades, including the USS Gerald R. Ford and 10 F-35s deployed to Puerto Rico. Strikes have targeted alleged narcotraffickers near Venezuela 22 times since September.

Shipping, particularly of oil, is a very specialized subject not many in the media know anything about. By far the most insightful article was posted by @Amuse from which we are lifting a few choice passages.

"The aim is to enforce sanctions on Venezuela with real rigor and in doing so to deny Nicolás Maduro the only revenue stream that sustains his dictatorship (...) Venezuela is no longer buffered by substantial reserves or diversified revenue streams. It is a state held together by cash payments to elites and the military, and that cash comes almost entirely from oil exports".

"Once the flow stops, the timeline to regime desperation narrows to weeks (...) Without oil money the bureaucracy, the security forces, and the state’s minimal social programs all begin to collapse. The timeline is rapid. Within 30 to 45 days the government struggles to pay key personnel. Within 45 to 60 days critical imports fall sharply. The power grid, already unstable, fails more frequently. Fuel shortages intensify and hyperinflation pressures return".

"The goal is not a ground invasion or a prolonged conflict. The goal is to create a short, intense financial crisis within the regime that makes Maduro’s continued rule untenable (...) how long Maduro can withstand a determined cutoff. The most likely answer is 6 to 12 weeks".

"For years sanctions were under enforced. Tankers operated with impunity. Ship to ship transfers near Trinidad became routine. Chinese refiners treated Venezuelan crude as a discounted supply source rather than a risk. (...)The tanker seizure marks the beginning of a new phase. It signals that Washington intends to make sanctions real".

Which brings us back to General Mike Flynn and his associate Patrick Byrne, the former spook who has now come clean about his real role in the CIA. Byrne earlier parted with some interesting information, here.

Byrnee gave a number of new interviews more recently, clarifying his position, provided more revelations about the Smartmatic operation and explained how he obtained the information.
