(CHRISTMAS 2025) A KALANTA A DAY: "FORTY DAYS, FORTY NIGHTS"
🎅 In the countdown to New Year's Eve we continue posting a traditional Greek Christmas/New Year/Theophany Carol or a Greek Orthodox Hymn a day. Today's Carol is "Σαράντα μέρες, σαράντα νύχτες" (Saranta meres, saranta nichtes - Forty days, forty nights, a reference to the 40 days of Christmas Lent), a traditional Carol from the region of Thrace by Yannis Mantakas Choir. The recording was made during the Christmas celebration with the choirs of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, organized by the Department of Music on Monday, December 16, 2019 in the Hall of Ceremonies. The Greek lyrics are available in this description. For a translation we suggest Reverso.
