(LIVE BLOG) OPERATION EPIC FURY/ROARING LION IN IRAN, DAY 10
Following our previous reporting (link), the operation by US and Israeli forces on Iran on Sunday went into its tenth day. Today we focus primarily on Cyprus, visited today by President Macron of France and PM Mitsotakis of Greece. In their speeches they highlighted the common defense agreement (link), the defensive nature of their presence in Cyprus and expressed solidarity with the people on the island. The emergency and precariousness of the situation was stressed in particular as Turkey just today positioned six F-16 fighters in the northern part of the island that it occupies for the last 52 years.

Macron stated that an attack on Cyprus, is an attack on Europe (link). All three countries are EU member states. France will deploy eight warships, two amphibious helicopter carriers, and an aircraft carrier to the Mediterranean, the Red Sea, and the Strait of Hormuz (link).
Apart of the frigate Languedoc and a Mistral anti aircraft system, France has also diverted its aircraft carrier Charles De Gaulle to the area. The vessel is presently in route in the West Med. The nature of its mission is as yet unclear.
President of France 🇫🇷@EmmanuelMacron posted as he visits Cyprus : “At the invitation of President Nikos Christodoulides, I am in Cyprus, alongside Greek Prime Minister Kyriákos Mitsotakis.
PM Mitsotakis said that Cyprus will never be left on her own. He mentioned the newly acquired Greek, French built frigate Kimon (historical background: link), presently in the area.
The ship is fitted with ultramodern AESA Sea Fire radars which have an range of 500 kilometers (or 270 nautical miles) for air targets and a surface detection range of 80 kilometers.
Macron has had phone calls with PM Netanyahu of Israel specifically about the situation in Lebanon, which concerns all three leaders. Cyprus has been under attack by drones that originated from Hezbollah forces in southern Lebanon. President Aoun yesterday apologized on behalf of the Lebanese people.
Lebanese President Joseph Aoun urged the EU for direct talks with Israel, calling for a full ceasefire and backing the Lebanese army to dismantle Hezbollah and seize its weapons. pic.twitter.com/xXAqxYSxrK
Today six Turkish F-16 fighter jets arrived in the northern part of the island, occupied by Turkey. The Turks are also contemplating stationing drones and other air defense systems on the island (link) (link).
Also just today a Turkish Navy warship reportedly issued a radio warning to a Greek vessel laying cables in international waters southeast of Amorgos, triggering a response from the Hellenic Navy (link).
The US airbase in Incirlik in Turkey came under fire today for a second time (link) (link). In a region where loyalties can be bought and change by the day, partisan reasoning (a modern, Western mental sickness) is a dangerous game.
It does not follow that, because Israel and Turkey carved up Syria, they are now secretly allies (link). An anti Erdogan Turk has dire warning for doing so and I agree with him hundred percent (link).
America is evacuating staff from its consulate in Adana, Turkey (link).
Good news for the oil market. Ships are crossing the Strait of Hormuz: they turn off transponders before passing (link). Trump tells...
