(LIVE BLOG) OPERATION EPIC FURY/ROARING LION IN IRAN, DAY 29

HORMUZ JUST A PAWN ON THE CHESS BOARD, US OFF RAMP OUT OF UKRAINE AND HOUTHIES JOIN THE WAR

Following our previous reporting (link), the military operation by US and Israeli forces on Iran on Saturday went into its twenty-ninth day. Social media are rife with nonsense. Blow by blow accounts of the war you can get from any outlet in the mainstream media. We have entered a stage of looking at the situation at a deeper level. In our last report we explained that Trump has Europe over a barrel. The US demanded that the EU approve the $750 billion trade deal by March 26 or lose favorable access to American LNG. The European Parliament approved the trade deal on March 26. For now, this appears to have satisfied the US demand for ratification (link). But the US-EU tensions do not stop there. There is some kind of an G7 going on in Paris. Marco Rubio is attending on behalf of the US. Feast your eyes on this exchange. 


With European members of NATO being so slow and reluctant to step up to help shipping pass the Strait of Hormuz, they handed Trump the off ramp out of the Ukraine war he was looking for.

We have the brilliant insight of John Konrad to thank for the rest of the 4D chess game, of which the Strait is a single pawn on much a larger, geopolitical board. 


You really have to read it for yourself, but here's the final conclusion:

"What I am arguing is that the administration has, whether by design or adaptation, assembled the tools to exploit this moment. (...) the administration holds more options than anyone realizes, and the insurance mechanism, not the Navy, is the real lever of power.(...) 

"An alternative version of this scenario is simpler: apathy. America just does not care about ships or how long it takes to reopen Hormuz or what happens to Europe as a result. (...) If American indifference is the reason the Navy is taking its time, is that not Europe’s fault for cultivating it."

There you go. Read it all! All this is going very far over the heads of the European national leaders, not to mention the two dimensional minds of the ladies running the EU. 

Finally the patience of the Gulf states is running thin, particularly with the Houthies joining the fray, threatening to cut off the Saudi escape hatch to the Red Sea. 



Speaking of the Houthies, they are claiming responsibility for a missile attack on Israel. Both sides have acknowledged the assault. Which reminds us of that other part of the war, under the code name 'Roaring Lion'.
