OPERATION EPIC FURY/ROARING LION IN IRAN, DAY 11

Following our previous reporting (link), the operation by US and Israeli forces on Iran on Tuesday went into its tenth day. After President Trump's press briefing from Doral yesterday (link), the mood towards the war has changed. He took away the idea that this would be another forever war, without committing to a timeline. The stock market rallied and the oil price sunk at once to 87 dollars. The military statistics are very favorable, with the Iranian Navy and Air Force as good as wiped out. Tankers and other cargo vessels started traversing the Strait, not in large numbers, but enough to get traffic going again. It also turned out that there was never any question of an energy crisis, reserves being filled to capacity. There are of course powers in the world that benefit from such rumors. The Iranian strategy of attacking Arab countries in the region, turned against them. Let's have a look at the details.

After yesterday's visit of Emmanuel Macron and Kyriakos Mitsotakis, the situation in Cyprus is still very much center stage in Hellenism, particularly the 6 F-16s that Turkey yesterday positioned in the north of the island, in the area occupied by Turkey for the last 52 years (link).

The Foundation for the Defense of Democracies is putting pressure on US Congress to call on Turkey to remove the threat for violating the terms of the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) that govern the export and end use of US origin defense equipment (link).

But the Turks issued a strong rebuttal of Cyprus's protests by Greek Cypriot leader Nikos Christodoulides, who described the Turkish action as provocative and reiterating that Turkey is an occupying force.

In an official statement the Turkish side said Christodoulides’s comments are unacceptable, emphasizing that the deployment is a legitimate and defensive measure taken within the framework of Turkey’s guarantor rights under the 1960 Treaty of Guarantee (link).

The news in the early hours of the war that the US had targeted a girls' school in Iran, killing over a hundred young women, has been debunked, as we knew it would be sooner or later (link).

For those who have no idea what are President Trump's plans for the Middle East since his first administration, Hudson Institute journalist Zineb Riboua has an interesting expose.

In an interview with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun that stunned CNN, he called for direct talks with Israel on "permanent arrangements for security and stability on our borders", while accusing the Iranian-backed militant group Hezbollah of betraying the country.

Aoun detailed his plan during a virtual meeting with EU officials, in which he leveled sharp criticism at Hezbollah and Israel for what he called "an attempt to corner my country". He accused Israel of showing "no respect for the laws of war, nor for international laws".

Israel’s assault on Lebanon has displaced more than 600,000 people and killed more than 400, including scores of women and children, Aoun said". Looks like we're looking at the Greater Israel Project in action. But that's not what shook CNN. That part was this.

"But it is his criticism of Hezbollah that is significant. Calling the Shiite Muslim group "an armed faction … that places no value on Lebanon's interest nor on the life of its people", Aoun said Hezbollah "wanted to achieve the fall of the State of Lebanon, under aggression and chaos". He accused the group of working "for the sake of the calculations of the Iranian regime" (read it all).
