OPERATION EPIC FURY/ROARING LION IN IRAN, DAY 7 (UPDATE)
Following our previous reporting (link), the operation by US and Israeli forces in Iran on Friday went into its seventh day. In this post we will only list updates of new developments in the last 24 hours. For reports on events on previous days, please check the link list of earlier posts below. Friday morning sirens sounded again at the Akrotiri area of Cyprus, Mayor Pantelis Georgiou confirmed (link). The alarm system for the island will not be ready until later this year, which explains why some residents did not receive warnings. The British absence continues to cause ripples. In an interview, Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides said that "under no circumstances do I wish to conceal" that the British government’s handling of the matter caused annoyance" (link).
For the avoidance of doubt, there has not been any ground defence protection at RAF Akrotiri for decades. Keir Starmer is a liar—claiming in his latest interview with Beth Rigby on Sky News that the base is secure and capable, while the recent Iranian drone strike exposed its…

Turkish Vice President, Cevdet Yilmaz on Thursday travelled to occupied Northern Cyprus, and used his visit to warn against "the use of the island in operations targeting the Middle East".
He said during a press conference that such operations pose a risk to all countries in the region, with the island's British Akrotiri RAF base having been hit by Iranian-made drones from Lebanon earlier this week.
His comments come after Cyprus was the likely launchpad of British fighter jets engaged and shooting down drones flying in Jordanian airspace on Tuesday night (link).
Turkey said (link) it is closely following the actions of the Iranian Kurdish PJAK paramilitary group, amid reports of discussions between Iranian Kurdish militias and Washington. Iran has been pounding strongholds of the Iraqi Kurds in Iraq.
Yesterday we reported that the Iranian Kurds launched a ground offensive in Iran. Kurdish TV confirmed President Trump had phone calls with three Kurdish leaders (link). Confusion persists. It's still an open question what precisely is going on.
Wide spread remarks on social media attributed to Turkish FM Hakan Fidan have been debunked. He is supposed to have said: 'We are aware of every game being played. Let it be known to the world that we have the power to stop them'. Grok states that this exact quote from Hakan Fidan isn't confirmed in any official statements or major news outlets (link) (link).
There are parties with a vested interest in driving a wedge in peaceful coexistence with Turkey. The Turkish leadership does not need their help in that regard. They are perfectly capable of proliferating their own invective. For months now we've been hearing from the propaganda machine that 'after Iran, Turkey is next'.
But as the war progresses they are correct in pointing out that we must prevent a situation in which Turkey can jump into the power vacuum left behind by Iran.
The Trump hating Wall Street Journal has an article on the issue. It's behind a paywall, but Harris Samaras gives us the gist. He adds a warning addressed to Western democrats, not to fall for the fallacy that the secular Kemalists will be better than Islamist Erdogan (talking to you, Geert Wilders!). If anything, they may be worse.
I must add one more point or better dimension to Bradley Martin's valid article on the reality that is Turkey, a point that often becomes a pro-Turkish rhetoric, an intentional one, by certain Western and even Israeli circles: It is not just islamist Erdogan and his AKP that is a… pic.twitter.com/Te18TZuK5H

By the way, thinking of the Turks only in terms of Turkey would be a mistake. Along with other Turkic countries, Iranian Turks, Pakistan and other Muslim countries, could mobilize 30 million soldiers to fight for Turkey (MI6 report). Half of Iran's population is Turkic. We wrote a piece about the pan Turkish threat some months ago. Check it here.

Azerbaijan is withdrawing its diplomats from Iran, closing its embassy in Tehran, and raising military readiness amid escalating tensions with Iran, according to the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry. Yesterday we reported that Iran targeted the country with two Iranian drones.
Regarding Spain, turns out it's to a large extent owned by China. How much is unsure, but 17 of its ports are (partly) owned by the CCP (link). According to a paper El Espanol, at least two ships and a dozen planes have left port bound for Iran since Sánchez vetoed the use of the military bases (link).
Closing on lighter note, FT has the story of George Prokopiou of Dynacom Tankers in Skaramanga, and the history of Greek shipowners as semi buccaneers and revolutionaries, coming into their own in time of crises and war (link).
As Iranian missiles brought traffic across one of the world’s most vital trade lanes to a near halt, Prokopiou became one of the few ship owners willing to let his tankers brave the journey. Prokopiou went as far as to rent more ships for his efforts to break in and out the straits of Hormuz.
While most shipping companies paused Gulf transits due to the Iran conflict, Prokopiou’s Dynacom Tankers kept sending vessels via the SoH. This video via @MarineTraffic shows Dynacom’s fleet movements in the area since Feb 27.— Nikos Pothitakis (@nikospoth) March 6, 2026

BREAKING: Bahrain just got hit. Not a base. Not a military installation. The refinery. The Bahrain Petroleum Company, BAPCO, is burning.
