ANIMATED MARBLE: SILBANNACUS WHO?

In the second episode of Animated Marble, Panagiotis Constantinou (YouTube channel "Real Faces" link) introduces us to the lost Roman Emperor, Silbannacus. In a 3D face reconstruction Constantinou asks how this obscure ruler could vanish from history? All that is left of Silbannacus' existence are two surviving coins. With almost no surviving historical records, Silbannacus remains a ghost in imperial history… but thanks to archaeology, numismatics, and modern 3D technology, we can finally imagine what he may have looked like.

Using the rare denarius attributed to Silbannacus, this reconstruction recreates his facial structure, hairstyle, radiate crown, and imperial features, giving form to a ruler whose reign may have lasted only days or weeks during the chaotic mid-3rd century.
