RUSH HOUR IN US-GREEK RELATIONS

US Ambassador to Greece, Kimberley Guilfoyle is roller coasting over the Greek economy with deals involving LNG, shipping, shipbuilding and drill, baby, drill hydrocarbons. Just in recent days we saw the signing of contracts between representatives of the State and the Chevron Corporation and Helleniq Energy (link). Yesterday Guilfoyle emerged at the Nisyros Dialogues Conference in Athens, held by the Georgios M. Mihalos Foundation. She spoke with Breitbart News Washington Bureau Chief Matthew Boyle (link) on US investment in Greece and the various fields of cooperation in the wider Eastern Mediterranean region.

In her speech Guilfoyle said inter alia that Greece has emerged as a premier energy gateway to Europe. "Greece exemplifies President Trump’s vision of peace through strength, as demonstrated by its investments and its military and its commitment to shared security: energy security equals national security".

Guilfoyle cited the Elefsina shipyards as a prime example of American investment, noting that they have been transformed into a thriving shipyard providing high-quality jobs to the local community.

Regarding the acquisition of the port of Piraeus by Chinese competitors she said that "what we can do now is invest in money and infrastructure to build another port (at Elefsina) that can counter the outputs from Piraeus with Chinese interests, while also implementing a long-term plan" (link).

US Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum, who also heads the US National Energy Dominance Council, took to social media Tuesday to praise the signing of exclusive lease agreements Monday by a consortium led by US oil major Chevron to search for natural gas off southern Greece (link).

"Great to see this deal finalized after two trips to Greece last year to promote the production of reliable and affordable energy that supports our shared security and prosperity. Partnerships like this are strengthening Europe's energy independence and creating more American jobs!" Burgum posted on X (link).

In the meantime at the other side of the Atlantic during a White House ceremony for the presentation of credentials by Greece's new Ambassador to Washington, Antonis Alexandridis, President Trump acknowledged that Greek-American ties are stronger than ever and he is looking forward to strengthening cooperation in strategic sectors.

He also expressed appreciation for what he described as Greece's courage in abstaining during the International Maritime Organization's adoption of a net-zero emissions framework, saying the regulation would have burdened consumers, businesses and global trade (link).

President Trump supports the Vertical Corridor which includes the Greek companies Aktor and DEPA, energy security and the construction of American frigates at the Elefsina Shipyard.

Trump said his Ambassador to Greece, Kimberly Gilfoyle is one of his most trusted emissaries, which demonstrates the importance he attaches to the bilateral relationship with Greece (link). Trump signaled his intention to pay a visit to Greece some time in the future.
