US STATE DEPT. LAUNCHES FREE SPEECH SITE FOR EUROPEANS

Echoing Secretary of State, Marco Rubio's speech in Munich last weekend (link), in which he called on Europe to save itself, the State Dept. has now launched a website, http://freedom.gov, to help European users circumvent content bans in Europe and elsewhere. The project, overseen by Undersecretary for Public Diplomacy Sarah Rogers, would include VPN-style tools that allow users to by-pass national restrictions by routing traffic through the United States. Rubio and Undersecretary Sarah Rogers have criticized Europe's relentless drive to smother free speech.

The ideological chasm between America and Europe could not become wider than the Atlantic Ocean at this point. Unless the Europeans come to their senses, the bond of shared values and common civilization between the old and the new countries, will be irreparably damaged.

As we have explained (link), the problem is the definition both sides attach to the concept of rights: to Americans, human rights are inherent in human beings; that's why they are called human rights. To Europeans, the State determines by law what is a right and what is not.

This initiative by the Trump administration reveals that present Western European leadership is no better than Iran or China when it comes to the mother of liberty, free speech rights. Without it, every other right that sets us apart from tyranny, will shortly be lost.

This American free speech platform is the digital, present day version of the Cold War era broadcasts of Radio Free Europe. That's how far we've already descended into the abyss of tyranny.

Here's a barrage of speech laws planned or already enacted across the European continent in just the last 24 hours. For the protection of the children of course 😇 In no particular order.
