FREE SPEECH, THE CANVASS OF DEMOCRACY

We can't talk enough about the inner workings of the American deep state. No one else is going to inform you about the war of interests going on within the American national security state between the various branches. The legacy media are certainly not going to tell you. But it is very important, particularly for Europe, now that Europe's own leaders are going full throttle banning speech online. As we reported yesterday (link) the State Dept. is launching a platform to facilitate free speech outside of the US through VPN technology, http://freedom.gov. However, there is still a permanent contingent of elements within the American security apparatus, that seek to undermine official policy when and wherever they can.

Mike Benz, the Executive Director of the free speech watchdog, Foundation for Freedom Online (website) is explaining to former UK PM, Liz Truss how that works. There is the Blob, for sure. But that's not all. There are also departments that work at cross purposes because they represent different interests. 

A few general observations are in order. Truss remarks that trust must be earned. The belief that trust, love and respect can be imposed from on high, either by law or by demand, is ridiculous. You can't demand these abstractions, because they are a secondary products. They are the response to the sharing values.

It lays bare, where the real problem lies. The old dichotomy of Left versus Right is exists, but more precisely we would define them today as globalists versus national populists. Not only do they not share values, these parties are mutually exclusive. And that illustrates the problems we are in as democracies. 

You cant share democracies with people who think the opposition consists of evil people that have no right to exist. In yesterday's post, also on the subject of free speech, we remarked that with the free speech issue we reached the canvass of democratic societies. If the Europeans do not stand down from this, we are all in a world of hurt.
