(CHRISTMAS 2025) A KALANTA A DAY: CAPPADOCIAN CAROL

🌊 In the new year and in the countdown to Theophany we continue our daily posting of traditional Greek Carols and Hymns. Today's the Carol for Theophany (on Jan. 6), "Από της ερήμου ο Πρόδρομος" (Apo tis erimou o Prodromos - Saint John Prodromos (the Baptist) out of the desert) from the region of Cappadocia by Katerina Papadopoulou, Stephanos Dorbarakis and the Domna Samiou Choir. Researcher and performer of Greek folk music, Domna Samiou (Wikipedia) recorded the carol in the 70s. Based on this recording, Katerina Papadopoulou continues the interpretation of Samiou in the traditional way.
