TURKEY, POST ERDOGAN? HERE BE DRAGONS!
As Greece is raising the stakes in the EastMed by extending its territorial waters to 12 nautical miles (link), Conrad Franz of WWN and Turkish amateur theologian David Erhan discussed the politics of Turkish President Erdoğan and the ethnic and religious intricacies in the country, of which there are many. Turkey challenges conventional ideas about identity politics in a surprising way. They talk about the origin of the Kurdish problem, why Greece needs a leader like Erdoğan, what is the nature of Turkish identity, the situation of Christians, separatism and why secular Kemalist nationalists are more dangerous to Christians than conservative Muslims (talking to you, Geert Wilders!). Kemalists may not like Christians, they do however want Western Christmas trees. This is a good moment to recall that the Asia Minor Disaster was perpetrated by secular Kemalist Young Turks (link). David takes a jab at Christian Zionism, that he calls the worst heresy that is targeting Christians in the Middle East today.
Regarding Iran, should the issue be resolved there, Israel will laser focus on regime change in Ankara. What happens then, is anyone's guess, but Saint Paisios' prophecies left little doubt on this issue.
