"POLIORKIA" ("SIEGE"): GREEK HISTORICAL ADVENTURE MOVIE (SUBTITLED)

For today, Oct. 28 on the occasion of Greek 'No Day' (link) we have a Greek independent historical adventure film for you, written and directed by Vasilis Tsikaras titled "Πολιορκια" (Poliorkia), with the English title, "Siege" and subtitled,  "A Wedding. A Betrayal. A Battle". Within the hostile climate of the World War 2, two families meet in a monastery for a secret marriage. But that does not go unnoticed. A betrayal will lead thousands of Turkish soldiers out of the monastery. The abbot of the monastery, the monks and members of the two families, grab arms and a siege begins and long with it a struggle for survival. A cycle of revelations start to play out. The story unfolds on the big screen through the discussion of two officers of the Greek army, at the Rupel Fort in March 1941.

"Siege" is part of the trilogy of Aratos Films produced for the Centennial of the Greek Revolution of 1821. "Exodos 1826" by Vasilis Tsikaras was the first with the theme of 1821 since "Papaflessas" in 1971.

"Siege" is based on actual events, notably the historical event of the Battle of the Dovra Monastery in Veroia in March 1822. But history repeats itself.

Two officers of the Greek army at the Rupel Fortress in March 1941 are being faced with the same challenges a few days before the German attack.
