(LIVE BLOG) ALASKA SUMMIT: THE ANALYSIS

President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin are meeting on Friday, August 15, 2025, at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson near Anchorage, Alaska, for a summit focused on ending the war in Ukraine and rekindling their relationship. The one-on-one talks begin at 11am local time (3pmET, 9pmCET), followed by a bilateral lunch with delegations and a planned joint press conference.

ALASKA SUMMIT ENDS AFTER 3 HOURS OF TALKS

Reporters in the press pool are saying that the 3 on 3 bilateral meeting will be followed by luncheon. The press briefing will be held afterwards. This could well go on for several more hours. 

Part of the discussion is the US purchase of Russian nuclear powered ice breakers. 

The sheer fact that President Putin was willing to come to US territory, shows the trust he has in the American president. Evidently any venue in Europe was out of the question.

The press is waiting for the summit to wrap up. If the meeting is short, the meeting is said to be a failure. If the leaders have a lot to talk about, some positive results may be forthcoming.

But some issues are bound to have been prepared well before the summit. That's inevitable. So the debacle some are hoping for, is not likely to come to fruition.

Imaging the trouble the deep state went to over the last decade to prevent this! 
















The American side has announced the composition of delegations for the talks in Alaska: US President Donald Trump, US Vice President J. D. Vance, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent. Last minute additions were Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth and FBI Director John Ratcliffe. 

The Russian delegation will include: Russian President Vladimir Putin, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Presidential Aide Yuri Ushakov, Defense Minister Andrey Belousov, Finance Minister Anton Siluanov, Presidential Special Representative Kirill Dmitriev.
