(HISTORY DOCU) WHAT HAPPENED TO THE FIRST ATHENS?

Earlier this year we had the pleasure of posting a video here, produced and published by Pete Kelly, the creator of the YouTube channel History Time and co-creator of History of the Earth (link). Kelly has a somewhat different approach to his subjects than most Western educated historians and archaeologists. For one thing, he does not start with the obsessive question, "but did it really happen?" He  doesn't reduce mythology to historical nihilism. The scientific method answers the question, how? But we need mythology to understand its meaning. Kelly studied history at  undergraduate and postgraduate levels and has worked as a researcher. He also writes monthly articles on his Substack (link) and is currently researching and writing his first book.

What most people know about Greek history is concentrated in the Golden Age of Athenian democracy and Classical era warfare against Persia and the Peloponnesian Wars between Athens and Sparta. 

Kelly goes beyond that, digging into the little know sites and monuments on the peninsula of Attica that are dating back to Mycenean times, the Age of Heroes and the Trojan War.

It is part of a larger work Kelly produced independently, covering all of Greece's Mycenean archeological sites, delivering over six and a half hours of documentary candy for the real history buff.
