HISTORY WEEKEND: WESTERN EUROPE AFTER THE FALL OF ROME

As everything is quiet on the political front -- just the usual propaganda games and petty squabbles clown show not worthy of our time -- we have a nice little slot to delve into an issue that has my specific interest. What most people know in the West of their own history, starts somewhere arbitrarily in the Middle Ages, at some time during the Crusades and certainly after the Great Schism in Christianity in 1054. Before that time, here be dragons! It is a historical black hole historians like to refer to as the 'Dark Ages'. Or so they have you believe. In the East, history unfolded quite differently, but that is not the focus right now. Below is a video, produced and published by Pete Kelly, the creator of the YouTube channel History Time and co-creator of History of the Earth.

Kelly has a somewhat different approach to his subjects. He is a historian and archaeologist who specializes in travel, history, mythology, and archaeology.

Kelly studied history at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels and has worked as a researcher and history communicator.

He also writes monthly history articles on Substack (link) and is currently researching and writing his first book.

In the present video he explains what happened in Western Europe in that black hole, after the fall of Western Rome. The video has been sitting in my inbox for some time, waiting for a proper opportunity to be posted.

Just last night Kelly posted remarkable news from the world of archeology, on the issue where the heroes of  the Bronze Age got their tin.

If the research is correct, something of which I have become very suspicious in the last years, that location was none other than Cornwall in southern England. The discovery should have wide implications for the course of history.
