COURAGEOUS JOURNALIST DEBUNKS TURKISH PROPAGANDA

To describe current subject as a hot potato would be the understatement of the century. A potential nuke is more like it. Greek podcast FreeMic GR is providing a platform today to Uzay Bulut, an Athens based journalist of Pontic Greek origin from Turkey. For those who do not know her already from her analyses and comments on X, you can find her @BulutUzay_ In the podcast Uzay explains how she found out about her hidden and suppressed Greek ancestry, which she shares with millions of turkified Greeks, Armenians and other indigenous peoples of Anatolia. Identity is a subject that is hotly debated. What is identity anyway and what are the currents and crosscurrents that are at present putting pressure on the issue?

So what makes an identity? It depends of course on your perspective. We look at common categories like language, beliefs, ethnicity and culture making up traditions and customs. That is the traditional basis of identity.

In the last few decades, identity has become an individual choice, and -- since wokeism -- encompasses also categories we do not traditionally associate with choice, such as race, sex and a construct called gender.

True to the nominalist Western mindset, according to the wokesters, identity is a social construct and as such can include any category an individual likes.

From Uzay's story we can see that the Turkish Ottoman rulers did not include ethnicity in their concept of Turkishness. Religion was the sole standard. That is in keeping with the ancient concept of identity: it's not what you look like, but where your loyalties lie, that determines the tribe to which you belong.

So here we have a situation of conquered peoples -- we are basically talking here about Greek and Armenian enculturated people, but there are other minorities caught up in this too -- that have forcefully been islamicized  (made loyal to Islam) over the course of centuries.

Asia Minor is not the only place this happened. This is of course equally true of the Balkans and the Levant, where Christians of all kinds of ethnicities were subjected to islamization, either at the mercy of Turks or Arabs.

An secular ideology called Nationalism emerged in the late 18th century with the American and French Revolutions as its first powerful manifestations. The ideology made a perfect cover for the genocides on minorities that were seen as a threat to the Ottoman Empire.

An increasingly 'awakening' of Hellenism is taking place in Syria and southern Italy. This increased awareness comprises categories like language, religion, culture and ancestry. In Italian parts, it's the culture of Magna Grecia that is good heartedly being celebrated.

But in Syria, with the emphasis on Orthodoxy, the situation is now beyond crisis point as Western leaders saw fit to regime-change the national strong man in favor of the Islamic extremists of an ISIS offshoot.

The increasing Hellenistic awareness is running up against the liberal pseudo religion of the Western ruling elites, to whom not any of the known categories matter.

In their world view the sole criterion is that you subject yourself to their morally 'neutral stance' relative to identity and confession. To understand where this is going, have a good look at the US.

Anyone is in principle welcome in America (subject to legal considerations) no matter your identity. You just have to embrace the 'morally neutral stance' that identity does not matter, as long as you do the ledge of allegiance. What you do in the privacy of your mind, is your personal business.

Just how fallacious this concept is, is indicated by the trouble President Trump had, to exclude potential Islamic terrorists from entering the country. In the end the courts approved his policy, but that still does not mean they aren't crossing the border illegally.

The mistake liberalism makes, is that it does matter what is going on in the privacy of your mind, because the values that make up your culture and beliefs, determine your actions. But that doesn't suit the ideology that is functioning as a pseudo religion.

The Greek Government and almost the entire opposition, are captured by the liberal globalist ruling class. There are a few new small parties that are trying to upend the status quo. But as we have seen elsewhere, this is a hard and lengthy process.

And in all honesty, it must be said that the Greek Government, captured as it may be, is not as bad as many of the other countries in Europe. Some of these may even be considered lost causes at this point. But the people themselves may surprise us yet.

The international, illegal migration racket is another subject altogether. But it becomes an issue if political leaders are unwilling to fight for the wellbeing of their own people. Greece is not there, yet. But many others are already far beyond that point.

The intentionally failed state of Libya, to all intents and purposes, has become a Turkish colony that is weaponizing migrants against Greece. How and why that is, is a subject for another time (link).

I want to thank Uzay for her worthy contributions and hope she will be able to go back to Pontos soon to see her family, which she must be missing a great deal. God bless!
