WHY LOST PROTESTANT SOULS ARE FLOCKING TO ORTHODOXY

YouTube's algorithm steered me towards a video on a Channel called "Rift TV", posting an interesting conversation with the illustrious Jay Dyer and his wife Jamie, and Orthodox apologist with the nick of @OrthodoxLuigi, some of you may know if you are on X, formerly known as Twitter. If you are in the US, you may have been exposed to this type of cult before, but to me as a European, the discussion is as fascinating as it is shocking! I thought I'd seen it all, but little did I know things are as bad as this. It illustrates with clarity why Americans are flocking to the Orthodox Church. It has little to do with masculinity. These people are in fear for their souls.

My worry has increased exponentially what will happen when so many lost souls are brought into the fold without a deep understanding of the Orthodox phronema. It's not in books or part of the average catechism. At the most important level it is not even in the general consciousness.

X is one of those social media platforms where the consequences are already visible. Some politically engaged folks simply turn on their heels and start the same sort of polemics on matters of faith of which they have some half-understanding in their secularly educated minds. 

Note I'm not saying these people in fear for their souls should be left to their fate. What I am saying is that we must be prepared for the consequences and what the influx of these people means for the faith, that is supposed to come from the heart, not from the secular, politically motivated mind. 

As an example I give you Rachel Wilson, an Orthodox anti-feminist with an interesting observation about women and hierarchy that I never considered. While not uninteresting, it should be clear that these issues are of an entirely different nature that have nothing to do with Orthodoxy,

Female nature isn’t evil or bad. It’s good under proper conditions- under patriarchy as God designed. It’s bad when it’s “liberated” from all moral restrictions and virtues, just as male nature would be. The difference is that men have a hierarchy among themselves and can police…
