TRUMP RECIPROCAL TARIFFS MARK 'FAIR WORLD ORDER'

A short word on the tariffs that came into effect in the US yesterday. Of course the item dominates the news cycle in Europe as well, usually in terms of outrage, moral indignation and threats of trade wars. The dishonesty in the reporting is rooted either in unwillful ignorance of the nature of tariffs, or in the pretense not to know that Europe (and other countries) have been charging American products for years with often outrageously high tariffs, while those were not reciprocated by the US. President Trump has had enough of that situation and has declared 'reciprocal tariffs' going into effect as of yesterday. All countries have to do in order not to pay tariffs, is not charge the US with tariffs. But if they charge ten percent, the US will reciprocate with ten percent. That's it.

Mrs Von der Liar and other European politicians are screaming with their hair on fire, proving that 'free trade' fundamentalism has become just as much a matter of moral rectitude as any other of their fake liberal pseudo religions.

We posted an indepth item on tariffs in "Trump 2.0: The End of Free Market Globalism" (link). The real reason for the outage and panic in Europe is that Trump's new policy symbolically marks the end of the post WW2 liberal rules based world order, otherwise known as globalism.

If tariffs will be reflected in higher prices remains a matter for debate. Conventional liberal wisdom answers in the affirmative equivocating them with taxes, but protagonists of tariffs explain that the consequences for pricing will be more nuanced than that. There is after all the matter of usual competition, whereby the highest sellers price themselves out of the market.

American radio host John Fredericks explains tariffs in short in above X post.
