GREECE'S AEGEAN MAP STOPS SHORT OF LEGAL EEZ
Today the globalist center-right Government of Greece has finally issued its Maritime Spatial Planning (MSP) with a map marking its delimitation in the Aegean Sea. A report on the Greek state broadcast organization ERT (source) states however that the present delineation does not coincide with the European Economic Zone (EEZ), which becomes clear when you study the map more closely. The Turkish Erdogan Government has stated it considers Greece instituting its legal EEZ, a casus belli (link).
Βγάλτε τα συμπεράσματά σας. pic.twitter.com/j5ChbMBWmb

Translation: Below is the map showing what the Aegean would be like after the extension to 12nm. It clearly differs from what was announced by @govgr which did not dare to announce a MSP that reflects the extension of the territorial sea zone in the Aegean to 12nm. Draw your own conclusions.
The European Economic Zone (EEZ) states that countries own the natural resources at the seafloor within a 200 nautical mile (370.4 km) zone from their coastlines. The territorial sea however extends up to 12 nautical miles from the baseline.
In November 2024, the European Commission published a map delineating Greece’s maritime zones, recognizing the full legal effect on all islands, including Kastellorizo in the southeastern Aegean. Turkey’s Foreign Ministry reacted with s statement declaring that it would take all necessary measures to protect its rights in the Aegean and Cyprus.
The map issued today by the Greek Government includes these 'hot zones' -- the southeastern Aegean islands Kastelorizo and Strongyli. What's more, the Greek delimitation touches with Cyprus' EEZ.

Last year Turkey declared sharing an EEZ with Libya, the war torn nation of north Africa. Today Turkey also completed its maritime spatial planning, according to a report published in the Milliyet newspaper. It reflects the claims embedded in Turkey’s expansionist 'Blue Fatherland' doctrine.
In the Aegean Sea, the plan adopts the median line between the two mainland coasts of Turkey and Greece. It is Ankara’s position that islands are not entitled to maritime zones, and that the continental shelf and exclusive economic zone (EEZ) should therefore be delimited along the median line between the two countries’ mainland coasts.
The report notes that the map does not constitute a legally binding maritime jurisdiction but is instead presented as a scientific study in accordance with international law (source).
The Greek delineation published today seems to have the legal status of law, establishing the official National Spatial Strategy for the Marine Space (NSSMS).
What the diplomatic effects of these developments will be, shall no doubt become apparent in the next few days.
To be continued.
