LAWFARE: POWER SHOULD SUBMIT TO MORALITY

In today's post Father Josiah Trenham, pastor of St. Andrew Orthodox Church in Riverside, California had a talk with an Australian podcaster whom he met at this year's ARC conference in the UK. ARC is the 'Save the West' platform initiated by Dr Jordan Peterson in an effort of save its supposed 'Judeo-Christian' roots and liberate liberalism from woke and globalist capture. It should by now be clear where this blog is coming from. We see the Enlightenment and its ideologies as part of the problem, not as the solution. However, to many people this is still a bridge too far, among whom Father Josiah. At least, he does not appear to see ARC's efforts in that light. Not surprisingly, to him every reference to repentance is a step in the right direction.

March 26, 2025 Rattesnake TV: Transhumanism, Feminism, and the Crisis of Modern Masculinity | Fr. Josiah Trenham.

The discussion is interestingly coinciding with the latest globalist onslaught on democracy, by lawfaring French opposition leader Marine LePen out of the democratic competition (The Duran has details). The video was probably recorded earlier, but Father Josiah is bringing up the historical confrontation between Church and State in around AD390, which is an interesting coincidence.

Father Josiah mentions the confrontation between the Bishop of Milan, St Ambrose and Emperor Theodosius the Great after the Massacre of Thessaloniki (Brave AI), in stressing that contrary to what is the norm today, power should submit to morality, not the other way around.

The example makes clear how remiss the clergy in the West have been in the last few decades -- and still are -- across the board guilty of negligence in their most basic duties. They simply surrendered to power and are actively supporting its ideologies with money and effort.

Given that the list of globalist assaults on democratic and moral principles is growing by the day, the issue has become more pressing than has been the case in a very long time. It is obvious that if something does not change fundamentally very, very soon, we are in for a lot of trouble.

Father Josiah is pointing out that Our Lord Jesus Christ, far from being a peacenik softie or a hippie type as He is often portrayed by various commentators, was the ultimate challenger of authority and a true example of how man is supposed to be, ultimately not just conquering the pagan Empire, but also Satan and Death itself, this changing the entire metaphysical structure of Creation.

It is no surprise so many former liberals, atheists and primarily Protestants are turning to Eastern Orthodoxy in the last few years. The story of "Christ dying for our sins" as told by Father Josiah is the only way the essential story of Christianity is making any sense. And it is only the Eastern Orthodox Church that is understanding it in this way.

For those interested in going deeper into the very complicated subject in what way, why and how Christ died for our sins, Fathers Stephen De Young and Andrew Stephen Damick recently had a very fascinating podcast on this issue in which they explain to the point of exasperation, the differences between the concepts of Atonement, Penal Substitution and Satisfaction Theory (link).
