Joe Rogan sat down for a number of hours with clinical psychologist, Dr Jordan Peterson, talking about a myriad of issues. Mere hours after the stream was posted online the talk was already controversial in right-wing circles among people to whom Peterson's words rang a little too close for comfort. As Cinderella would say: if the shoe fits, wear it. Peterson's warnings should not be taken lightly, as we know this four percent of psychos in a general population, is probably just about right. Social media and positions of power are magnets to these people.

We have been into this issue of narcissism quite extensively in the past. There is a difference between genetic narcissistic disorders and those caused by external factors.
Regrettably, (post)modern ideas about raising kids and how to deal with egotistical adolescents have greatly contributed to the second type.
That is not to say that every teenager going through a Master of the Universe phase is a clinical narcissist. But the nihilistic mindset that is so common in popular culture today, is a great foundation for psychopathy.

While I have my criticism of Peterson, particularly his reductionism to evolution (and I think he should stay away from theology), I am taking this opportunity to push back against the prevailing moralism. It has become a knee-jerk reaction to reject a person entirely, based on a single disagreement.
Note that at some point Rogan and Peterson are trying to figure out the opposite of tyranny. While this binary approach might help us to identify a concept, it ultimately leads to the black versus white dualism and intellectual purism that is tearing the Western world apart. Discernment is important, but is should be balanced.
All in all, the entire talk is very interesting and insightful, at times a little uncomfortable, if not simply frightening. But they end on a positive note with young people turning in droves to traditional, more conservative lifestyles.
