(MUSIC VIDEO) DEC. 21, 2024: WINTER SOLSTICE

On the occasion of the re-lighting of the Temple of Poseidon at Sounio, near Athens  we posted a music video on Sep. 17 this year of a remarkable performance by the renowned Greek composer Stavros Xarchakos, directing the Orchestra for Contemporary Music of the Hellenic Radio and TV organization ERT (link).

Singers were Iro Saia, Dimitris Basis and Zacharias Karounes.

While the entire concert is still at your disposal (link), we are re-posting today the finale, titled "Up on the High Mountain", essentially an ode to the sun, which seems appropriate to mark today's winter solstice.

The light is returning to the northern hemisphere. There are just another two months of winter ahead of us until the time of Great Lent, which is starting this year in early March.
