HISTORY AND PROSPECTS FOR POST ASSAD SYRIA

With the uncertainty how post Assad Syria may develop in the near future and the legitimate fear for the wellbeing of the Christian minorities, it's a good thing Jeem -- whom we introduced not so long ago (link), an Eastern Orthodox Christian of Lebanese origin residing in the US -- has a stream devoted to the subject. His answer how things will develop depends on who will get to dominate the new Syria; Turkey i.e. Erdogan, or the Gulf states. Jeem explains the history at large, the situation in colonial times and during the Baath era, without which understand the present is not possible.

The Duran went into the issue of the larger Middle East with Prof. Jeffrey Sachs, with whom we do not always agree, and who has strong opinions and clarity on the matter, generally staunchly anti Israel and still on the long defunct idealism of the 'two state solution'. For what it is worth...

Dec. 11, 2024 The Duran: Syria power vacuum with Jeffrey Sachs.

Merkouris seems to agree with our theory that the ultimate goal of the globalist West is the balkanization of the Middle East, turning it into one big failed state.

Sachs lists the range of failed states left in the wake of Western interventionism. "You shall know them by their fruit", Jesus Christ taught us. But what could be the explanation?

The obvious objective is the time honored concept of divide and conquer. But besides, look what the US did in the wake of the demise of the Soviet Union in the Yeltsin era.

On the question what the West's obsession is with Ukraine and its visceral hatred of Russia, the brilliant geopolitical analyst, Jim Rickards replied as follows:

"The Western Left of the past has become the globalist elite of the present. They liked the Russia of President Yeltsin where chaos reigned. Not only was Bill Clinton able to manipulate the notoriously drunk President, they could exploit the capitalist Wild West of Yeltsin Russia, looting it from its wealth and resources. This is how they like Russia. No wonder they hate President Putin who is what we now call, Russia First" (link).

They like a chaotic wild Middle East no less than they loved the Wild West of Yeltsin Russia.

Father Peter's five cents' worth.
