ISRAEL AT WAR: NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART

Public opinion is going the way it always does. Shock and outrage at a Palestinian terror attack, followed by Israel defending itself, with outrage against Israel's defense in the final stage. In the end public opinion is always hijacked by the terrorists and their fan boys and girls because people can't deal with the reality, that Palestinian tactics exploit Western sentiment that abhors civilian victims. This is why Palestinian terrorists are always hiding behind human shields. The Palestinians as a people have been sacrificed to the Palestinian cause for the last seventy plus years. Nowhere on earth a situation exists where the victims of war have been herded into places as Gaza for close on a century, just to keep 'the Palestinian cause' alive. Arab countries are hypocrites like that, sacrificing an entire population they themselves refuse to accept within their own borders, because where Palestinians take root, civil war ensues.

Axios: Israel had intel on Hamas activity but didn't put Gaza border on high alert

"Israeli intelligence the night before the Hamas attack picked up signs of irregular activity among Hamas operatives in Gaza but top IDF and Shin Bet leaders decided not to put military forces on the borders of the enclave on high alert, three Israeli officials told Axios.

The official said that after consultations on Friday night, the director of Shin Bet and the IDF chief of staff decided to send a small Shin Bet special force team and a team from the police counterterrorism special unit to southern Israel for a scenario of an attempt to infiltrate across the border and conduct a limited kidnapping operation.

"These teams literally started fighting on Saturday morning," the official said. A second Israeli official said, however, that the "decision was to not put out an alert based on the intelligence and it was a misjudgment."

The Prime Minister's Office said Netanyahu wasn't updated about the Friday night consultations and the first time he received an update was at 6:29am local time when Hamas started firing mortar fire on the Israeli villages near the border."

IDF forces have been concentrated just outside the crossings into Gaza, waiting for the order to go in for a ground invasion. Who remembers the Battle of Fallujah in Iraq, with US forces hunting enemy fighters going door to door in urban combat, must realize the dangerous task these brave men are facing. This is no job for recruits. 

Of course the 'international community' has its hair on fire, admonishing Israel not to embark on this operation crying something about human rights. The survival of Israel cannot abide by such cheap outpourings designed to manipulate emotions. Israel must neutralize Hamas if it wants to protect its citizens, as is her duty, 

May God bless the IDF and keep its brave soldiers safe.
