ANNUAL UN CIRCUS: TRUMP, ERDOGAN AND "THE GREEK CHURCH"

This week's annual United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) circus put the spotlight once more on Greece, Turkey and the general situation in the Eastmed. The leaders addressed the General Assembly (speech Mitsotakis, speech at Union League Club NY link) and talked to each other in the margins one on one; a few were lucky enough to be invited to the White House for consultations with President Trump. As Turkish President Erdogan cancelled his bilat with Greek PM Mitsotakis, he took to the Oval Office for slaps from the President and questions from the press. The aim was to get sanctions lifted, imposed after Turkey purchased Russian air defense systems in a typical power move Erdogan came to regret the following years. Erdogan has a good personal relation with Trump, but in Congress he is less popular. Congress might still thwart Turkish efforts to dominate the Eastmed.

Sep. 25, 2025 RSBN: President Trump Greets Turkey’s President Erdogan.

The fall out of the meeting at the White House were a few cringe moments provided by President Trump. Americans are clueless where history is concerned. Even more so than Europeans, and that's saying something!

Usually it does not matter, but it does when the most powerful man assumes the Turks were around at the time of the incarnation of Christ. Which in reality did not occur until well into the second millennium.

The event also serves as a reminder that the appearance and speech at the UNGA of the former terrorist who is now allowed to call himself the leader of Syria, was a concerted and coordinated effort of the collective West, to replace former President Assad by whoever came on the scene as a result of their efforts.

Already the man is lamented, with the collective West standing by as if they had nothing to do with it.

If Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople thought he struck gold when he visited the White House last week (link), his petition to Trump for assistance with Erdogan was limited to a mention in the margins:

...Hey Erdo, before you go [slap], the Greek Church was here to ask a favor, so go easy on them, okay? I said I'd mention it...or words to that effect. If you want to know "Why Orthodox Christians HATE the Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople", watch this.

Here is a interesting interview with historian Soner Çağaptay to watch if you want to know how Turkey sees its role and position in geopolitical terms.
