CEASE FIRE WITH IRAN: WHAT DOES IT MEAN?
So just ninety minutes before President Trump's deadline for Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz or see its "whole civilization" destroyed, Trump announced that Iran has agreed to a two-week ceasefire. Iranian officials and Pakistani mediators confirmed the deal. Iran pledged to reopen the Strait and both sides agreed to join talks towards a lasting peace, which will start in Islamabad on Friday. Shipping companies seem cautiously optimistic, but are seeking reassurance that their ships won't be attacked or hit mines. The temporary truce between the US and Iran does not include Lebanon, and the IDF continued to strike Hezbollah targets in Lebanon.

So what does all of this mean? Well, for starters, it means the end of the Pax Americana and the beginning of the Donroe Doctrine. The fissure between US and its NATO 'allies' was revealed during the episode regarding the US' acquisition of Greenland, which is essential for Trump's vision of North American economic autarky.
The rest, as they say, is history. President Trump always suspected NATO was a paper tiger that only consisted of American sweat and treasure. John Konrad recently explained it in other words, which I thought was just a trifle over the top. So I countered it with this argument (link). That, however is a side show.
The reactions today from various European 'leaders' show exactly where we are. Mere hours ago, Trump was called a war criminal for his threats against Iran. They can't even tell the difference between talk and tactics! Today they come reading off the same memo, as if they have been somehow essential to the deal instead of irrelevant!

The US-Iran stand off certainly separated the goats from the sheep. The damage is irreparable. The Post World War 2 liberal rules based world order is gone.
North Western Europe, not to be confused with the Eastern parts, is going to be relegated to a huge open air museum, until such time that it finally reverts to its original status as a natural park.
During the war I've never seen so many 'geniuses' so wrong about everything. The media, the geopolitical pundits, the podcasters, the wise guys, the influencers, everyone! Even the mightiest among them have fallen.
If you never read a newspaper again, pull the plug from your TV set or disconnect altogether from social media, you won't miss much and probably save yourself a lot of anxiety.
I came across one report so far that went beyond the obvious. It was posted before the cease fire. Kudos to GBNews, from the UK no less, who feels the loss of empire the most.
Trump is off to China later this month. Game, set and match!
