AMERICANS RETURNING WEAPONIZED IDEAS TO EUROPE
"Big, angry" American John Konrad, CEO of @gCaptain, the world's most visited site on maritime news has earned kudos and admiration in recent weeks for his unique analyses of the Strait of Hormuz crisis. His reports have been woven throughout our recent posts on the issue. Konrad's analyses are the essence of rational thought in an ocean of frivolously connected speculations, lies made up of whole cloth and straight up nonsense. But today he posted a commentary on American-European relations that I found frankly, a trifle too much over the top to be realistic.

I'm not going to elaborate on it here, because that is not the issue. The gist of his post can be summed up in one sentence: Americans: big uncouth, overpaid, militaristic bastards, Europeans: refined parasites cultivating their decadent cultures sponging on Americans. Above is the thread, if you care enough to acquaint yourself with it.
What Konrad does not realize, is that much of the lunacy going on in Europe, in many cases is a finished, American export product. Europeans may think up ideologies like liberalism, but they come back to Europe from the US, with added zeal and wrapped in a box of amoral pragmatism.
Every fallacious idea, every ridiculous popular fashion trend, every pernicious development that destroys the social order in the post World War 2 era, was weaponized and re-packaged in American academe or in American deep state institutions and sent back to Europe.
I want to keep this light, so I'm not going to dig too deep into this issue to make a finer point. Let's just say that I found the proof of the American obsession with weaponized equality on the front page of the Greek English language blog, 'Keep Talking Greece'.
It's probably an April 1 joke, but that doesn't take away from the point in question. We have now reached a stage where pun has become indistinguishable from real life. And that too is on American technology, weaponization and pragmatism!
"Greece invents Souvlaki for left-handed tourists" (link)
"The famous Greek delicacy Souvlaki, the soft pita bread tenderly hugging chunks of meat or chicken, tomato, onions and garlic sauce, enters a new era: a special edition for left-handed tourists.
"The decision of the ministry in charge follows complaints by left-handed tourists, mostly Americans, who have difficulties to enjoy the delicacy after the first bite.
"Everybody knows that after the first bite, one has to push the wrapping paper down and tear a little bit in order to be able to eat further. In fact, the good souvlaki eating practice is: bite–tear-push, bite-tear-push.
"And that’s apparently something that bothers left-handed souvlaki consumers as the paper is wrapped right-handed and the loose paper to be teared is on the wrong side of a left-handed man, woman or child.
"After the complaints rose almost in the same pace as tourism grew in the last couple of years, authorities in Greece could not ignore the demand.
(But wait, there's more. Read it all).
