TRUMP: TERRORIST IN SYRIA DESERVES "CHANCE FOR GREATNESS"
While we've been enjoying President Trump's triumph in the Arabian Gulf, we've also got a fairly serious point of concern. It centers on the lifting of sanctions against Syria, in effect the new political leadership that not that long ago had a bounty on his head for being a terrorist war lord. We understand things are complicated in the region, but to reward the man and his murderous gang with "a chance for greatness" seems premature, to say the least. MBS is the kind of man that has everything, but I'm sure President Trump could have found some other way to please him. The politics between the West and Syria have long been such, that you have to look far beyond the surface for it to make any sense.
May 14, 2025 Syria Analysis: Trump's Middle East: America Won.
When Obama started his campaign against the Assad regime, it came on the heels of the propaganda ploy, called 'the Arab Spring'. It was Hillary Clinton's and Barack Obama's baby in order to parashut the Muslim Brotherhood into polite society.
It took the plucky people of Egypt to turn out into the streets en masse to topple the Muslim Brotherhood regime that had been brought to power there in the early days of the social media revolution.
On the face of it, the campaign against the Assad regime in Syria never made any sense. Assad senior, the real authoritarian dictator, had been ruling the country for decades! So why the sudden necessity for regime change?
While 'the Arab Spring' in Tunisia and Egypt could still be sold under the cover of a people's uprising against authoritarian rule and for democracy, this was obvious not the case in Syria.
Nothing makes any sense in Syria. Just as the sudden lifting of sanctions does not either. Even if you allow for the covert machinations between the deep state, Al Qaeda and other terrorist groups.
Obviously, there is more going on under the surface. When Assad was in power, the explanation of an anti Russia campaign was a serious possibility. But that won't fly anymore. Turkey is a player obviously, but Erdogan is not the key here.
The project called Greater Israel may have something to do with it. As does the personal relationship between Trump and his buddy Steve Witkoff with the Emir of Qatar, which is Muslim Brotherhood Central.
It would not surprise me if there is some deal going on that involves also the future of Gaza. When Trump announced the news, MBS sat there as if he just hit the jackpot. So something is up.
Now, we're all for peace, certainly in the Middle East. But there are people involved that are going to pay the ultimate price for this endeavor, vulnerable ethnic minorities and Christians.
Time will tell what the great plan is.
The fate of Syria's Druze, Alawites and Christians should not be left to al-Qaeda and ISIS terrorists. Syria should not be left to the savagery of its President al-Sharaa and his HTS offshoots of ISIS and al-Qaeda, or to Turkish President Erdogan. https://t.co/K2U9MRdhvz
