DEEPSEEK APP UNLEASING AI 'ARMS RACE' (UPDATE)

The Chinese Communist Party has recently  released an app, in essence a search engine running on Artificial Intelligence (AI), called Deepseek. The NY stock market has lots trillions in assets. It sets the 'arms race' between America and China on steroids. With this new development the war is on for the first country to successfully industrialize AI. The narcissists on Silicon Valley shall now want to go full throttle with its development. Steve Bannon talked this afternoon with Marc Beckman, an AI optimist. While there is no need to panic, we have to be aware of what's coming down the pike.

Already people are talking in human terms in relation to products created by or with AI. The usual suspects are pushing for 'human rights' for robots and the potential is real that this can get quite dark, very soon. Bannon explains the spiritual dangers in Roman Catholic layman's terms. That is also what concerns us. 

The propagators of AI are doing their best to communicate about their products in human terms, which is misleading and dangerous. For a start, intelligence of any kind is not what AI is. Computers compute, in other words, they calculate. That is not what intelligence is. 

Some of the worst propagandists -- those to whom technology has become a religious cult -- are predicting AI at some point will become conscious. Not even knowing what that is, they have already adopted AI as an idol. Needless to say, that will never happen, since creating life ex nihilo is not what humans are capable of.

AI art and design is being normalized as a feature. It grossly misrepresents what art and design is, namely an exclusively human faculty and the result of one of man's five mental senses, imagination. Art may be an image, but not all images are art.

In recent years especially in the West, man has become completely unglued from reality, primarily because of bad philosophy. Whereas the worst excesses, also known as 'woke' culture, may have met with (temporary) resistance in President Donald Trump in the leading nation, this will not put an end to bad philosophy in academe.

The onset of AI can only mean more of the same and worse. We have to carefully monitor developments and what the consequences may be for the future of mankind.
