"THE GREAT TALES": THE ARTHURIAN LEGENDS (PART 2)

Father Andrew Stephen Damick, known from podcasts like The Lord of Spirits with Father Stephen De Young (link), and talks on his YouTube channel (link), has a new podcast: The Great Tales. He is running it with filologist Richard Rohlin, well known from his association with Jonathan Pageau on The Symbolic World (link). Both men are Eastern Orthodox Christians. Although every new episode of The Great Tales is automatically uploaded on the playlist in the pages section of this blog (link), we are also dealing with the most remarkable episodes here in separate posts. Having been on the subject of the Arthurian legends myself in some periods in my life, this one of course caught my attention. Considering myself reasonably well read on the issue, this one had some astounding revelations that surprised even me. And perhaps not too shockingly, some connotations happen to be related to Eastern Rome, also known as Byzantium and to Eastern Orthodoxy. Enjoy!

Feb. 6, 2025 The Great Tales - The Quest is Achieved (Grail Part 2) [Ep. 7].

The Great Tales - Who Serves the Grail? [Episode 6].

Given that the Great Schism between -- essentially -- Constantinople and Rome only occurred in 1054 and that the roots of the Arthurian Legends are estimated to be as old as at least Roman Britain, which officially lasted until the year 410AD, the connection with the Divine Liturgy is perhaps not so surprising.

Father Andrew and Richard Rohlin are bringing it all back to life. A great episode!

The next instalment on the Arthurian legends in two weeks' time will be curated here in an update.
