STORY TIME: WHAT ARE STORIES ALL ABOUT?

This weekend it's story time. Dr Zac Porcu (page) just started a brand new series of six lectures on precisely that subject. On Monday Aug. 31 part 2 goes live on YouTube. Stories are not what most people think. We'll let Porcu explain and you'll much more appreciate their portent and their crucial role in our existence. Because stories are structures of reality. They tell us who we are and where we came from. If a culture stops telling stories, the question is justified, is that culture still alive? And then we got wonderful stories for you. Father Andrew Stephen Damick tells two Nordic stories on The Symbolic World. Master story teller Martin Shaw just delivered part 2 in a sequence on Tobit (subscribe to the platform for part 2 and more). We close with a traditional Greek song. People identify Greek music with emotion, but that is just the effect. What it really is, is a long experience in very good story telling.

Update: After Jonathan Pageau shocked his followers by giving Nolan's "Odyssey" a quite positive review, here he explains to Pavel Shchelin why the movie gives him hope that something is changing in the culture.
