HOLY WEEK 2024: LIVE STREAM PASCHA - VESPERS OF LOVE
Today, Holy Saturday, we continue yesterday's semi live liturgies from the Holy Church of the Ascension of the Lord in Neos Kosmos, Athens with the service of St. Basil the Great and the commemoration of Christ's Harrowing of Hades, liberating Adam, Eve and other worthy historical figures from the clutches of death (poem by Jonathan Jackson). The event is also called The First Resurrection. Even though Western denominations have underemphasized or even denied this cosmic event for reasons best known to themselves, it holds the key to the very essence of Christian cosmology: 2024 years ago the nature of the world metaphysically changed overnight. Let that sink in for a second. For the explanation and more we refer you to our page "Eastern Orthodox Dogma on Sin, Death and Resurrection" (link). The relevant Bible passages are 1 Peter 4:6-19, Ephesians 4:9, Matthew 12, 40, Acts 24, 2-31, Collosians 1:18.
