GREECE IN THE CROSSHAIRS OF THE CULTURE WARS

A few weeks ago Greek globalist PM Kyriakos Mitsotakis pushed a bill through the Vouli legalizing same sex marriage and their right to adopt children (links). This all went against protests by the Greek Orthodox Church. We are now revisiting this issue to make clear  that this attack on the Church, the family and the culture in general was not an isolated event. Nor will Mitsotakis' attempts at social 'reform' stop there. This issue was of course pushed by the EU and was framed as a question of human rights and equality.

Not that there ever was a public discourse on the issue, or that the question was put to a vote; but somehow or other the idea seeped into the list of 'European values' that the separation of Church and State means the extreme French revolutionary approach, known as laïcité.

It means that the entire public space must be religiously neutral and cleansed of everything pertaining to the realm of religion.

In another era, Alastair Campbell, Tony Blair’s Coms Director condensed the principle in a nutshell: "we don’t do religion". Religion has been confined to the privacy of the four walls that make up your home.

But this stance of moral agnosticism never holds permanently. From passive aggressive neutrality towards Christianity, there is now open warfare being waged on Christians. In the video above Megan Basham  recently explained to Tucker Carlson what's going on.

This campaign is accompanied by assaults in the media, including entire book lists arguing against 'Christian Nationalism' (source). The concept is a liberal construct in order for them to neutralize an American voting block that largely votes for the opposition.

But as Basham explains, this is not just targeting American Evangelicals. Latin Mass Catholics are just as much in the crosshairs.

This phenomenon does not stay on the American continent. This is born out by the sad events in the US vassal state in Eurasia, Ukraine where the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church has been banned by law and replaced by a CIA cutout, confusingly called the Orthodox Church of Ukraine.

Very few people these days are prepared to speak out for the freedom of conscience, but these brave young Republicans are.

A social reform program (otherwise known as social engineering) is already being rolled out across Greece. Watch the #MeToo movement coming to the Onassis Cultural Center in Athens on April 23 (source). It won't stop there.

These culture wars often start with a legitimate point. Too many women are being killed in Greece by their boyfriends and husbands (link). But you can bet your bottom dollar liberals are going to pounce on the issue in order to attack men and their 'toxic masculinity'.

Ironically it is the Orthodox Churches in the Western world that are seeing a sharp uptick in new converts, primarily young men who have grown up in societies where men and male virtues have been marginalized. We did a Special around Christmas on the issue "Orthodoxy and Masculinity" (link).

April 22, 2024 The Blaze/Zero Hour: Father Josiah Trenham, pastor of St. Andrew Orthodox Church, joins James Poulos.

In another ironic turn of events an annual report by the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor of the US State Department sheds light on the human rights landscape in Greece with findings reporting several issues, including allegations of cruel treatment towards prison inmates and migrants by law enforcement, violence against minority groups, and threats targeting LGBTQ+ individuals.

"While the government has made efforts to address these violations, concerns persist regarding the investigation of forced returns of asylum seekers and accountability measures" (source).

If there is one country that has lost its moral high ground on human rights, it is the United States, with hundreds of January 6 defendants at the end of cruel persecutions and prosecutions and a President in danger of life in prison on 72 politically motivated, trumped up charges in order to sabotage his campaign.

The State Dept. is the center of a spider web of covert organizations aimed at overthrowing foreign Governments they don't like. Read all about that in various postings featuring Mike Benz, Executive Director of the free speech watchdog, Foundation for Freedom Online (website) (links). Specifically the primer (link).

But the State Dept. report represents just one example how PM Mitsotakis, who has fully and warmly embraced the moral program of the liberal 'rules based order', is being pressured by outside forces to put more pressure behind his social reform program.

We have seen these culture wars being rolled out in other countries across the globe. Everything they touch turns to ashes. I should know. I consider myself a refugee from one of these countries. Do not think the culture wars stop at gay marriage. That's just the beginning!
