GREECE DEBATES GAY MARRIAGE AMIDST STRONG OPPOSITION (UPDATE)

Our previous posting on the liberal onslaught on the country of Greece we started as follows: "Can Greeks Survive the Era of Wokeness?' (link). Greeks survived through five thousand years of historical calamities, so what is a few years of wokeness in the face of it? But more important is the question, will they also survive their own Government selling them out to the liberal world order?" Two subjects have become illustrative of the fact that hardly any country can survive such an ordeal. The first item is the moral corruption of society brought about by the normalization of gay marriage. The second, that we shall deal with in a separate post, is the matter of culturally and/or religiously hostile migrants negatively influencing society through the globalist (UN/EU) open borders policies. As European Commissioner for Internal Affairs, Ylva Johansson on a visit to Athens said on Monday (paraphrasing): the country has made enormous progress; this was unthinkable only a few months ago. It still is!

Jan. 6, 2024 B.C. Begley: Greece revives 2,300 year-old palace where Alexander The Great was crowned.

PM Kyriakos Mitsotakis proved his globalist credentials last week during a presser after the inauguration of Philip II’s restored palace, the so-called 'Parthenon of Macedonia' (link). (Paraphrasing again): this monument belongs to the entire world; we are just its custodians.

Despite strong objections raised by the Greek Orthodox Church, PM Mitsotakis means business with social "reform" since he won a second term in office in August last year. Just before Christmas the Holy Synod sent a message to the Archdiocese and the Metropolises, expressing its disapproval with the proposal.

Globalists as the elitists they are, have no hesitation about the morality of Governments foisting their liberal values on entire nations as a whole. This is precisely why we know how dictatorial they are despite their claims about uniting, democracy and human rights. (P.S. What has happened in Poland today should remove any lingering doubt, more in a separate posting link.)

Case in point, the Minister of State said this morning that "the bill on marriage and childbearing by same-sex couples is an initiative that aims to unite Greek society and not to divide it" (link). Projection much?

For historical reasons Greece is ruled by a precarious balance of Church and State that is unknown in the present Western political system. It is obvious that PM Mitsotakis is now breaking with this precarious balance of the secular and the sacred under pressure of global institutions, particularly the EU which is calling for a strict separation of Church and State, preferably in the radical French style.

Gay marriage has already been legally accepted in Greece, and so is cohabitation. But of course that is not enough for the liberal globalists! You got to embrace their 'values' entirely and happily, otherwise they'll stuff them down your throat like bitter medicine.

Alternative news site Meaculpa.gr reported that the official launch of the propaganda campaign is expected to begin on Wednesday Jan. 10 with an interview in which the PM will clarify his position at length (link).

Interestingly what is not made clear in the report is whether PM Kyriakos Mitsotakis will raise the question of party discipline when the bill makes its way to Parliament.

According to the information of protothema.gr a growing number of his close associates is supporting the bill. But a report in Greek City Times this morning reveals that the contrary is true: he faces a rebellion of upto 40 MPs.

How controversial the proposal is, is evidenced by social media messages that no one is going to vote for Mitsotakis' party ever again should this proposal become law.

Prodromos Emfietzoglou, leader of the Patriotic Party in a tweex expressed his legal arguments against the proposal as follows (link). He apparently has not realized yet these globalists are totally lawless! Read up on Poland for this one (link).

1. Greece's Constitution contains a preamble stating "in the Name of the Holy and Co-Equal and Indivisible Trinity" connecting it to the Christian Faith and the teachings of the Gospel.

2. Representatives likewise swear the oath in the name of the Holy and Co-equal and Indivisible Trinity (article 59) and have the unlimited right of opinion and vote according to their conscience (article 60). Therefore any attempt to influence or intimidate through the threat of party discipline is illegal.

3. The family is the foundation of the Nation as well as marriage. Motherhood and childhood are under the protection of the State (Article 21 §1). So any attempt to break up the family and not advance the Nation is unconstitutional.

4. A referendum is indicated in cases of critical National and Social issues (Article 44). So a responsible Government MUST announce a referendum and not try to proclaim it.

PM Mitsotakis must either withdraw or postpone the submission of the Bill in question, or not proceed without a referendum against the will of the Greek People, i.e. to usurp popular sovereignty which is prohibited by the last provision (article 120).

Update
In the promised interview with ERT the PM clarified that he will not exercise party discipline and accept abstentions from party members. His main argument for the bill is the protection of the rights of children of gay couples and the fact that 20 other countries have already passed same sex marriage legislation. He clarified rather enigmatically:

"I do not believe anyone denies this reality: that same-sex couples have children, and these children will not cease to exist, will not disappear. Yet these children, you know, do not have equal rights. Why so?” he underlined, citing an example of a foreign married couple with a child born in Greece. If one spouse were to die of cancer, the child would have to be sent to an orphanage."

This is typical. Hold up a rare specificity as a strawman, make it as sad as possible, and push through an unpopular universalism.

The bill excludes male couples from using surrogate mothers. But a court is likely to remedy that, claiming discrimination. (More in Greek City Times).

In an ad hoc poll on Newsbomb 89% of Greeks chose No to same-sex marriages and adoptions. The poll had nearly 5,000 readers voting in the 24 hours it ran (link).

Father Peter Heers recently discussed the issue with a number of Orthodox thinkers, bringing up the philosophical root of the propaganda. The gay movement from its inception was a continuation of the anti racism effort, which is rooted in the notion that race is innate with all the consequences thereof.

For example, a person does not choose his own race. Therefore is blameless for his race (contrary to moral values, which are a choice).

Equivocating homosexuality with race as innate, the person becomes blameless for his homophily (as opposed to homosexual acts and lifestyles, which are of course a personal choice).

The question is, is there such a thing as a gay genes? It has only become fashionable as a premise since the onset of the gay movement.

As the ruling party is holding consultations amidst applause from their Socialist and Communist brothers, the Holy Synod of Crete has also come out against the bill.
